Microbead (I-Tip) Hair Extensions in Las Vegas

Vegas Best Extensions has applied microbead extensions in Las Vegas since 2006, and we were the city’s pioneer of the beads method. A microbead (I-tip) extension is a single strand of hair bonded into a fine tip, then linked to a small section of your own hair with a tiny bead. There’s no glue and no heat, and the same hair can be reused for a year or more. By 2024 Paul Juma had applied beads for more than 1,500 clients.

Photos first, please: for any extensions service we ask for photos before booking, so we can give you a thorough consultation. Front and back photos work best, showing your hair in its natural texture (not brushed straight or curled with hot tools), plus the look you want if you have one. Upload them on our Contact page or simply text them to (702) 449-8429.

Also known as: beads, links, microlinks, Locs, Hairlocs

Clients search for this method under all of these names, and they all describe the same idea:

  • Beads or microbeads: the tiny color-coated cylinder that holds each strand
  • Links or microlinks: the same bead, named for how it links the extension to your hair
  • I-tip: the straight, pre-bonded tip on each strand
  • Locs: another name for bead extensions (not to be confused with dreadlocks, which we don’t do)
  • Hairlocs: a branded bead system. Several of our long-time clients know the method as the Hairlocs system, and you’ll see that name in their reviews.

Microbead Extensions in Las Vegas, Step by Step

Each strand goes in separately, which is why individual beads give the most natural flow and blend:

Stylist threading a small bead onto a fine section of the client's hair
1. Thread a bead onto a small section of your hair.
Inserting an I-tip extension strand into the bead
2. Insert the I-tip extension strand.
Clamping the bead closed with a bead tool
3. Clamp the bead closed on the hair.

Why It’s the Safest, Non-Glue Method

  • Nothing is glued or bonded onto your hair. Removing or maintaining beads needs no chemical solvent and no pliers to break a bond. Much of the damage other methods cause happens when bonds are broken and strands are pulled out of your hair.
  • Full styling freedom. Individual strands can be elevated 180° for updos and styles. Tape and weft extensions can’t, because the tab or rack is too wide to lift safely.
  • Placed for your hair stream. We consider your natural hair flow before we start, to prevent discomfort or damage, and keep every bead 3/16″–1/4″ from the scalp.
  • Small enough to hide anywhere. Re-bonded into tiny microbeads or microlinks, strands can go high on the crown, temples and front hairline undetected, adding volume where you need it most.

Our safe hair extensions guide compares beads with glue, fusion, sew-in and tape methods.

Reusable: The Same Hair Lasts 1–2 Years

Unlike bond extensions, bead extensions can be worn for over a year when they are cared for at home (avoid hot tools) and maintained every 6–8 weeks. At each visit we reuse the same strands, so the hair you invest in keeps working for you.

“He has been doing my extensions for 6 years … The hair lasts about 1–2 years.”

— Denise, client

That longevity starts with the hair itself: we use our European Remy hair, full cuticle and 100% human.

Ideal for Fine, Short or Thinning Hair

Because beads come in different sizes, we use smaller ones along the front hairline and top layer, where they are least visible. We can apply extensions to hair as short as 1″, which makes beads ideal for fine, damaged or short hair, and for clients rebuilding after hair loss.

Maintenance Every 6–8 Weeks

Maintenance is simple and safe. We open each bead with a special tool, detangle, remove the naturally shed hair, replace the bead, move the strand up and clamp it again. You get full instruction sheets on the day of application, the recommended products at wholesale prices, and free troubleshooting between appointments.

What Microbead Clients Say

★★★★★

This man is a magician! I am so happy. I am a cancer survivor who lost all of my hair during chemotherapy. 7 months later I have, long beautiful extensions. He used micro-beads so you can not tell that they are extensions. The color match is perfect! He special orders hair to match and it has never been colored so it is so soft and healthy. I feel like myself again. Thank you, Paul!

I wouldn’t go anywhere else for hair extensions! – I met Paul in Santa Monica and used to travel there every two to three months from Vegas to get my extensions done and maintained. I was so excited when I found out he was moving to Vegas. He has been doing my extensions for 6 years, and you couldn’t pay me to have them done anywhere else. The hair lasts about 1-2 years and has to be maintained every 2 to 3 months. I f you want beautiful natural looking extensions, you need to visit Paul!

Best hair experience! – This is the first time I have gotten hairlocs. I have always had thin hair and I have had other kinds of extension methods done and this method is by far the best! Paul is an amazing stylist and the hair he uses is nothing less than spectacular! It has not damaged my hair at all and it feels great! He is a really good colorist, he matches it so well with the extensions, it blends beautifully you cannot tell at all what hair is yours and what are the extensions. I have had so many people comment on how full and beautiful my hair looks. I feel so much sexier and confident having this amazing long hair. Paul really makes you feel comfortable and will absolutely make sure he gives you exactly what you are looking for! You will leave feeling fabulous! I wouldn’t go to anyone else!

Microbead Extensions FAQ

Do microbead extensions damage your hair?

Applied and maintained properly, they are the gentlest method we know. No glue or bond touches your hair, so removal and maintenance need no chemical solvents and no pliers to break bonds, which is where most extension damage happens. The beads sit 3/16″–1/4″ from the scalp; if one feels uncomfortable, we adjust it.

Can I wear my hair up with microbeads?

Yes. Individual I-tip strands can be lifted a full 180°, so updos, ponytails and bridal styles work. Wider tape or weft extensions can’t be elevated that far safely.

How long do microbead extensions last?

Over a year, when you care for them at home (avoid hot tools) and come in for maintenance every 6–8 weeks. One client who has worn them for years puts it at 1–2 years.

Will people see the beads?

Not when they are placed well. Beads come in a range of sizes and colors, the smallest about as narrow as the rod of a tail comb, and we lay them in the direction your hair naturally falls. That lets us place them on the top, crown, temples or even bangs undetected.

What can go wrong with bead extensions?

Because strands aren’t glued, they can slip out if you use products we don’t recommend or pull hard on your hair while styling. Fewer than 2% of clients react to the beads themselves; if that happens, the extensions come out easily. We give you full care instructions on the day.

How much do microbead extensions cost?

They are priced per consultation, since the cost depends on how many strands you need, the length and the hair you choose. Send front and back photos through our contact page for a quote.
